米大統領選で優勢の民主党バイデン元副大統領が、次期財務長官に前FRB（連邦準備理事会）議長のジャネット・イエレン氏を指名する計画だ。ウォール・ストリート・ジャーナルが関係者の話として11月23日に報じた。イエレン氏は、仮想通貨ビットコイン（BTC）懐疑論者として知られている。
イエレン氏は、オバマ大統領時代の2014年にFRB議長に就任し、2018年初頭まで続けた。ビットコインの2017年バブルを目撃したイエレン氏は、一貫して仮想通貨業界に批判的な立場をとっており、2018年10月にはビットコインは「使えない以外の何ものでもない」と酷評した。
